Abdominal Therapy and
Emotional Health & Wellbeing

Abdominal Therapy offers a holistic path to emotional balance and can help you reconnect with your emotional health and wellbeing. Our tummies are where we store everything, it is where we hide our emotions and experiences.

‘I have a knot in my stomach’, ‘I feel like I have butterflies in my tummy’, ‘I feel sick with excitement’

are just a few of the many phrases that we humans use to describe how emotions can make our tummies feel.  These emotions can be felt acutely or become hidden away in our bellies pushed as far down as possible.  Having work done on your abdominal area whether that is physical massage or energetic healing can be a very powerful experience and a release of these emotions and traumas. Holding them within our bellies does us no good but we subconsciously store our stories there to protect ourselves and try and cope with things that have happened.

This can be an array of experiences — some examples include:

  • Rape and sexual assault

  • Our birthing experience

  • Our experience with our periods

  • Our sexual health

  • Stress and anxiety

  • Our relationship with food

  • Shallow breathing

  • Poor sleep

It can be very emotional having your abdominal area massaged, at the time but also afterwards and we talk a lot about this in the session, it is important that you feel supported through this part of the work. Having someone to speak to or finding a therapist to speak to can be of use help as can journaling, meditation, creative outlets and movement.  Clients also report that they can feel. Very peaceful and relaxed after the sessions and have a great sleep.
